Designers Randi Spoon and Alexis Lawton are Manhattan’s latest up-and-coming arbiters of fashion. Recently, the duo debuted their new line of contemporary womenswear named, SPOON Fashion.
The collection itself is somewhat reminiscent of the initial fashion revolution of the 1960s, where women began donning blazers, pants, and short hemlines. The bold uses of shape and texture have been executed in such a way that the collection maintains an aesthetic of modern functionality without sacrificing the air of chic femininity.
“It’s been a wonderful journey [working side by side]. We learn something new everyday, both from each other and from the experience. When you build your own brand, every day brings new challenges and fresh excitement.”
Building a brand—whether or not it includes working in collaboration with someone—is definitely a challenge within itself. With that said, it’s also such a rewarding experience.
So far in the midst of their career, the girls are quite surprised by the amount of support received by men. Randi proceeded to explain, “Often I'm asked, ‘When are you designing for men? We want to buy something!’ It's flattering to hear how interested some of these men are in our work.”
Though there aren't plans to expand into menswear down the line, the girls do advise shopping at some of their favorite menswear designers for obtaining that polished look. “Tom Ford and Armani make great men’s suits for more formal occasions. Thomas Pink makes great men’s dress shirts. J.Crew is great for more casual occasions.”
SPOON Fashion embodies the modern, strong, and sophisticated woman. Her free spirited and intoxicating nature complements her elegance and beauty—and that’s the type of woman we rêve about here at Style et Rêves.
